Building your Computer: The Pros and Cons

Considering that we are entering into a post-PC world, with the advancements in technology, this doesn’t necessarily imply that the desktop computer is dead. A sensation that was birthed in the late 70s is still much here to stay even though smartphones and tablets are overtaking specific functions like basic gaming, checking email, and keeping in touch with social media, you can still get more use out of a classic PC. Things like typing are still quicker with the PC, there is a seamless interface, and most importantly, the user experience is always the best.

Build vs. Buy

building your own compFor basic computer applications like word processing, Internet browsing, and video streaming, buying a computer from your local store will do just fine. However, if you are into gaming and heavy computer application like graphic design, building a computer is the ideal option. Furthermore, you’ll probably get a better deal for your budget building one. However, building a computer isn’t for everyone, the process can be long tedious and stress, and if you are unsure of what you are doing, it can turn into an endless money pit.

Pros and Cons

Decisions often come with split roads, pros, and cons. There are both pros and cons to buying versus building a PC. Buying a PC seems like the best option considering how prices have drastically dropped and you can get a PC that ranges from a low as £200, not forgetting that these computers do come with a warranty and tech support. However, thing begins to get more expensive when needs begin to get more technical and high end, like gaming and graphic design, with prices skyrocketing upwards to £3000. No one needs to cough up all that money to purchase a computer.

Here is where building your computer comes in, it is cheaper and more so allows for complete customization giving you the ability to upgrade the components whenever you please. In a sense, you can create your high-end computer with a budget range of £500 and £1000 and still serve the purpose intended.

The sad bit though is that the components carry individual warranties and if you don’t put everything in place the right way, your machine fails to boot. Unless you are a trained technician, you wouldn’t know which component is causing it, and there is no 24/7 hotline to assist you.

In the end, there is always a battle raging on about building versus buying. There is no shame in buying a computer, but then again there is fun and learning experience in building one. Good luck with your choice.

Most Popular Poker Games

Casinos offer a variety of poker games to play. Poker has always been played way back in the 18th century and with its increasing popularity, it is safe to say it’s not going away anytime soon. However, it is prudent to note there exist many variations and versions of poker game. You can find more info on poker at for example Poker Listings.

They include;

  1. Texas Hold ‘Em

top gamesIt goes without saying that, this is the most popular poker game, ergo they even make movies about it. It never misses in the World Poker Series. There are four rounds of betting, and in this game, players are dealt two “pockets/hole cards” which is the first round and then wait for five community/shared cards to be revealed in the next three rounds. Three of the five cards are shown (the flop), then the fourth in the upcoming series (the turn) then the fifth and final card (the river).

This game aims to make suitable combinations of the hole cards and the shared cards during each round.

Here are some necessary Do and Don’ts.

Do:

  • Always Play Premium Hands

This type of poker is a game of big cards, seek out to play big poker hands like KK, AA, QQ or JJ, and also hands containing the combination of two cards in the Ace to Ten zones like AQ, AK, and KQ.

  • Consider Your Position

A new player should play the starting hands that will ensure no trouble towards the end, like AA, KK, QQ, AK (suited), JJ, 10-10, 9-9, AQ (suited), 8-8, and 7-7. The later you act, have your starting hand requirements wide. This will ensure your opponents find a difficult task to put you on a hand while you make your decisions easy.

Don’t:

  • Play Hands Because They are quite Suited

Indeed two cards of the same suit are recommended. However, they are usually less worth than more trouble. The chances of you making a flush by the river are very slim (15 to 1; against). Moreover, your opponents will try and make it very expensive for you to even see the river.

  1. Omaha

Can be composed of 2-10 players, it is quite similar to Texas Hold ‘Em as it has four rounds of betting but the difference is that the five shared cards are revealed immediately, and the players must make their best hand of five, two from their hole and three of the shared, to win.

  1. 7-Card Stud

Here each player is dealt with seven hole cards (three down, and four up) and the aim is for the players to make their best hand of five from the seven hole cards initially dealt. At the beginning of the game, two face-down and one face-up card are dealt to each player.

Some gambling facts

How is the UK Gambling Industry Regulated?

gamblingThe UK gambling industry provides diverse gambling forms to the public. Such include casino games, bingo, sports-betting, gambling slots, and gaming machines. All these forms are available on physical locations and also online from licensed gambling operators accredited by the UK Gambling Commission and relevant local authorities. It is always advisable to check the operator’s website and see which of its products is licensed and by whom, and if satisfied, you’ll be protected adequately whilst you play.

In addition, other more financial market-based products that are not licensed by the Gambling Commission, may be licensed by the Financial Conduct Authority or even by foreign regulators, like the case of stock and binary options.

Legal Ages for Gambling

Often the general rule involving anything legal in the UK is 18, and so it is for gambling. In adult gaming centres, bingo halls, betting shops, racetracks, traditional and online gambling casinos, this law applies. Moreover, gaming machines such as teddy grabbers, coin pushers, and some lower stakes machines in family entertainment joints and amusement arcades/parks are open to anyone. A point to note, is that a person who is 17 years who participates in gambling, not exempted as stated above is guilty and can be legally charged of the crime.

Responsible Advertising

Socially responsible advertising is also a regulated sector in the gambling industry. There is industry code for socially responsible advertising put down.

Social Gaming

In the UK currently, games that do not win you anything in terms of cash value or money fall outside these regulations set forth. However, due to the worldwide popularity of some of these games, highly constructed be interactive, sociable and very compelling (particularly those that bear close resemblance to playing in a real casino game), may lead to regulators seeking other avenues to regulate like in creation and sale of these games.

Complaining about Gambling

Quite often, any form of gambling is without some form of complaint and as such UK regulations have set forth capacities and policies to ensure all complaints are dealt with within the constraints of the law. Always check the latest laws and policies to be up to date in the subject.

Why is the gaming industry growing at a fast pace?

The UK gaming industry is exponentially growing, last year was a record year for the UK gaming industry, both the market monetary value (£4.33bn) as well as other sectors like films and merchandising (£100.5m). Estimates further put it growing at a rate of 6.7pc and suggested by 2021; the UK gaming industry will be worth £5.2bn, this will make it Europe’s largest market and the fifth largest in the whole world.

gaming industryAccording to PwC, nearly 50% of UK’s population plays video games, on all platforms – Online, games console, PC, smartphone, or VR headset. The increase in gaming popularity can be attributed to the increased availability to the public; how it is easy to download them at the click of a mouse or tap of a screen.

This availability has brought forth opportunities that include funding and investments with potential clients viewing games as a means of engaging audiences, and moreover people looking to get employment in the sector. All these factors profoundly influence the gaming sector. The enormous appetite for games and gaming merchandise in the UK means there is more demand for services offered by gaming professionals, which translates to more money.

Attracting top players

The UK has rated the third best country at attracting, training and furthermore retaining skilled workers within the digital industry, with the significant magnets being the cities of London, Cardiff, and Birmingham. Additionally, as more people become equipped in working in the gaming industry, with universities offering a range of technical courses, firms are likely to succeed and grow if they employ these highly skilled workers.

Is it Game over for the UK?

The UK gaming industry is thriving because there is the existence of high-skilled, and adequately funded workers who are making games every day to meet the market demand. For this to continue, however, Dr. Richard Wilson, chief executive of The Independent Game Developers’ Association, proclaims that support must, and should indeed, stay at the same level, with support, games will be developed and will be enjoyed by the population and in turn provide revenue. He also believes that much of the gaming industry future success will evidently rely upon government policy decisions. He further recommends the formation of an official investment fund for gaming, which will provide a substantial tax relief rate for developers, who will then continue accessing skilled workers, from the EU and incorporating them into the gaming industry.

Blade Runner 2049 – A sight to behold

Something unlikely has happened. An equally miraculous as methodically preserved secret hidden from the little that remains of humanity. A moment that disappeared over time, like tears inthe rain. But in Blade Runner’s bare, dead world there is no room for these unique moments. This devastated world refuses to accept replicas as its own and is instantly unrestrained, broken, trapped and overwhelmed daily by terrible thunder storms. Nevertheless, I feel confident in director Denis Villeneuve’s hard-knocked grip, whose dystopian vision in some ways exceeds it’s predecessor from 1982 with i’s overwhelming humanity.

Blade Runner

The cold steel that surrounds the cut-off Los Angeles city, the whining rain pouring in the evenings; and the shining neon light through the smog is in contrast with the sensation of a crispy photo paper, a lilac piano key and a dirty piece of cloth, that wakes childhood memories, in a movie that re-discovers Ridley Scott’s unforgettable film-world.

Blade Runner 2049 sores with detail

One of my favorite scenes in the movie takes place in a old abandoned casino in the middle o a radiation-infested Las Vegas. The inside of this old vintage casino in Las Vegas were shoot at the Stock Exchange Palace building in Bucharest, Liberty Square; and this makes me feel like looking for a Top New Casino is quite cozy and friendly – when you can do it at home in front of your mobile or computer.

It’s just poetic how the movie is so popular in such a sober mood, how nostalgic desire blossoms in the most unthinkable moments where the beauty of the film lies in how the film breaks down if whether or not there are people or replicas that interact with each other in the scenes; The magnitude lies in the value that the characters give each other, and their surroundings, where the least meaningless detail can be the greatest proof of how invaluable human sentimentality is.

I got tears in my eyes

What most surprised me about the movie is how simple Blade Runner 2049 is. Despite the futuristic scenario and cyberpunk technology, the film is classical in some way, similar to the old days where the cinematic storyteller was the most important pillar in a movie production. The story smells of classic, hard-boiled deck-noir, where the actors (especially Jared Leto)’s huge presence completely dominate scenes. The links to the movie classic never feel crowded or clogged as a fan service, but naturally baked into a dark, mysterious story with several layers.

Of course, I will not say too much about the action in order not to spoil the surprises, but I can say that the story is incredibly well-written and leads to such a truly powerful and phenomenal climaxthat I would lie if I claimed I did not get tears in my eyes at the end.

Best Graphics card right now

The processor may be the computer’s brain, but when it comes to games, the graphics card is the heart that pumps out pixels and polygons to the monitor. Thus, it is also the single most important component for us gamers. Here are some cards that deserve their place your next PC – whether it’s a smart media giant, a budget computer, or a 4K monster.

graphics card

Best Graphics Card Overall: The GeForce GTX 1070

Was there really any competition for the top ranking? AMD has the chance to defeat the GTX 1070 with its RX 480 – but before we could compare the cards thoroughly, the GTX 1070 remains the lord. The card can match or exceed the GTX Titan X and GTX 980 Ti in all games, and on all settings – and it accomplishes this at a significantly lower price. This does not necessarily mean that you need to upgrade from a 980 Ti or Titan X to the 1070. The performance is so similar that it is most about price-related performance.

Our advice is to skip a generation or two of hardware, or more generally – just upgrade when your current hardware starts to feel a bit too slow. It means, of course, different things for different people, so some players are likely to change card for a small improvement, while more economical people can manage medium or budget quality-cards.

Best High Performance Card: The GeForce GTX 1080

If you want the fastest graphics card on the planet then the choice is quite easy – The GTX 1080 easily wins in our tests. It’s 30 percent faster than Titan X and GTX 980 Ti, and uses almost 30 percent less power. This is, again, thanks to the switch from 28 nm to 16 nm FinFET, which allows Nvidia to print more components on smaller surfaces.

What is the problem then? The biggest shortcoming is obvious – the price. No, we do not necessarily think that a little over € 600  is unreasonable for such high performance. 980 Ti has sold well at a similar price since the release last year. But it is still a lot of money.

Best value for money: The Radeon RX 470

Gone is the infected debate between the AMD and Nvidia-fans who argue whether the GTX 970 or R9 390 offer the best value for money. Instead, we have a new fight: The RX 480 vs the GTX 1060 – and, if you step down one step, the RX 470 vs the GTX 1060 3 GB? Honestly, all of these options are viable – but if you want the most value for money, there is a particular card that stands out.

The RX 470 does not bother us directly with its performance, but what it boasts is lower power consumption, a price below € 200. It took a few months for the price to fall to the right level , But by now the RX 470 has found its own niche.

A Review of the Game Kingsway

In Kingsway you adventure among ancient ruins of an old operating system from the 90’s. I am the chosen one? After many years of hard, frustrating training, I’m ready for my mission. Probably I’ll save the world or something in that style. Honestly I didn’t listened very carefully when it’s was explained to me.

kingsway

Go on a adventure in an operating system

For one that doesn’t know, it may seem to be a hard-pervasive environment that is presented before you. Old ruins full of outdated and forgotten technology. And no, I’m not talking about caves. I’m talking about operating systems and interfaces. Kingsway is something as odd as a role playing-game  that takes place in an old Windows 95-like operating system, complete with windows and menus. It looks charming old and shiny.

It may sound terribly hard, but it’s actually very easy to get in. The menu system is a bit messy is part of the challenge itself, namely. The shape of the game is a big part of the content in an extremely smart and intelligent manner.

When you start, you’ll only see a desktop with a few icons and folders you can start opening by placing them where you want on the screen. In the beginning, the game is quite challenging, namely and the introduction is a little bit tedious, so it’s not great fun to start over when you have to.

Once you get acquainted with the shape of the game tho, just click on points on the map and see your little figure travel to the next goal. You fight against the monsters in small windows, where you choose between attacking, blocking or the usage of use abilities or spells. Both you and the monsters have a meter, and it’s up to you to get as many attacks as possible before the opponent counter-attacks.

Kingsway is a solid Adventure title

The only real challenges in this title are the bosses. They are the only ones that challenge you a little and give a little difference in the otherwise rather easy game. However, only a little thinking is required, you will quickly learn the pattern of the monster and take on the adventure.Do it the old games we started playing as kids have something extra, just because they did not have so much options. It’s easy, it’s comedy in just the right places, it’s focused almost exclusively on fun of games and the adventure itself – without being boring or ugly. On the contrary.

Micro Machines is Back!

Maximal chaos when the microscopic cars make a big comeback – but they forget the party on the couch.

You will not love or hate the Micro Machines World Series. You will both love and hate it. The feeling when I succeed in pushing an opponent into a milling saw blade is magical. Equally great is the frustration when the finish line approaches and someones breakfast is in the way.

Eleven years in the making (Ok, not really)

Today, it’s eleven years since we last saw Micro Machines in any game form. Much has changed but the kernel is intact: maximum chaos with minimal cars! When I start my first match, I feel like I’m surrounded by 100 murderous micro machines, and when I’m in a hurry to go too far into a curve I see how “thousands” of cars thunder past me. The feeling of frenzy is apparent and not rarely just a few seconds separate you between honor, fame, first place, and total humiliation.

micro machines

The gamer will feel just at home when the cars on true Mario Kart maneuver picks up weapons, in the form of hammer, bombs and rifles. This arsenal becomes extra toxic in the elimination mode, where its important to not slip too far behind. If you disappear from the screen you are bursting, but you’ll get a second chance and a meter will talk about how to make a comeback. Elimination is pervasive – and then I mean not just literally. Going from top to bottom and back again happens in a pinch.

Micro Machines – Unique Weapons

Last but definitely not least, there are more or less complex arena rides. Here, the unique weapons of a total of twelve different micro machines are locked up (which means even more chaos). The ambulance shocks with the defibrillator, the fire truck has the ax in the top, and the police car can mark opponents for extra damage – among many other things. And the controls? Sleek but simple and fair.

The twelve vehicles have three different weapons each, one of which is loaded depending on the amount of damage you divide and whose power is extra lethal. The car to car  battle can take place on a flat board where your sole task is to win. Here you will also find the flag of “King of the Hill” and a location where you have to ship bombs to your opponent’s base.
